Using this site

Bible Verse Roll provides free tools for reading Bible verses at random or by book or topic -- a Random Bible Verse Generator, Verse of the Day, Random Psalm, Random Proverb, a roller for each book, and curated topic lists -- for personal, devotional, educational, and informational use. No account or sign-up is required, and there is no charge to use any page on this site.

Verse text and translation

Verse text on this site is the World English Bible (WEB), a public-domain translation. Text is quoted verbatim from that translation; this site adds no doctrinal commentary to the verse text itself. Any editorial writing on this site -- book summaries, topic descriptions, FAQ answers -- is this site's own writing, separate from and clearly distinguishable from the verse text, and should not be read as an official or authoritative interpretation of scripture.

Not a substitute for study or pastoral guidance

This site is a convenience tool for reading and sharing Bible verses, not a substitute for a full study Bible, a church, or qualified pastoral or theological guidance. Don't rely on a single randomly-rolled verse, in isolation, as guidance for a significant life or medical decision.

How results are generated

Every random roll on this site is generated using the Web Crypto API (a cryptographically-secure random number generator) with unbiased rejection sampling, and Fisher-Yates shuffling for "no repeats" guarantees -- both standard, well-documented approaches to unbiased randomness, described on each tool's own page and verified by this site's own automated test suite. Verse of the Day is the one deliberate exception: it uses a fixed, non-random formula (a hash of the calendar date) so every visitor sees the same reading on the same day, as explained on that page. No roll result is stored on our servers, predetermined, or replayable.

No affiliation

Bible Verse Roll is an independent site and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated on behalf of eBible.org, any Bible publisher, denomination, or religious organization.

This site is provided "as is," without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to accuracy, reliability, or fitness for a particular purpose. While verse text is checked against its source, use of any tool or content on this site is at your own risk.
